Prison inmate Ronald Holdsworth dies

FORT DODGE – Ronald Eugene Holdsworth was pronounced at 4:43 a.m. on the morning of Saturday, July 11, as he was being transported from the Fort Dodge Correctional Facility to the Unity Point Trinity Hospital in Ft. Dodge. He had experienced a medical emergency early Saturday morning, and an ambulance was called for immediately.

Cause of death has not yet been determined. The State Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Holdsworth was 62 years old with multiple preexisting medical conditions; the autopsy will be examining whether COVID-19 was a factor in his death. Holdsworth had been serving a 25-year sentence for the crime of Sexual Abuse- 2nd Degree from Boone County. His sentence began on May 14, 2008.
