Prison Inmate Elvin Gilroy Dies
FORT MADISON – Elvin Gilroy was pronounced dead due to natural causes at 9:40 a.m. on Monday, June 27, 2022 while in hospice at the Iowa State Penitentiary where he had been housed due to chronic illness. Gilroy was 82 years old at the time of his death.
Gilroy had been serving a life sentence for the crime of Murder 1st Degree from Kossuth County. His sentence began on May 6, 1970.
