Analysis of pertinent trends, research on recidivism, validation of risk assessment tools, and maintaining a performance measurement system are some of the regular activities that also contribute to the Department’s mission.

Tips for using data.iowa.gov database:
- Go to data.iowa.gov
- Click on Public Safety
- On left hand side under categories - click on down arrow by public safety and then choose correctional system.
- There are then 73 results that come up.
- Can click on the title of the report and then scroll on the page (towards bottom is a table preview of all the fields available) to filter or can just click the export in the top right of screen to a CSV or CSV for Excel file format, etc. and then can manipulate the data accordingly.
