DES MOINES – The Iowa Department of Corrections (IDOC) is proud to announce that High Risk Unit (HRU) Officer Ben Keen has been named the United States Marshal Northern District of Iowa Task Force Officer of the Year. This prestigious recognition highlights Officer Keen’s outstanding contributions to public safety and his unwavering commitment to justice.
In his role with the U.S. Marshal Task Force for the Northern District of Iowa, Officer Keen has consistently exemplified the core values of the IDOC. His efforts have led to the successful apprehension of numerous high-risk fugitives, removing dangerous individuals from the community and preventing future crimes. Officer Keen’s work has made a tangible impact on community safety, earning him this well-deserved accolade.
“Officer Keen’s dedication to the safety and security of Iowa’s communities is unparalleled,” said IDOC Director Dr. Beth Skinner. “His ability to collaborate, innovate, and mentor others embodies the spirit of our department, and we are immensely proud of his achievements.”
Even while assigned to the U.S. Marshal Task Force, Officer Keen has remained an integral part of the IDOC’s High Risk Unit team. He continuously shares his expertise and experiences to uplift his colleagues and strengthen the agency as a whole. His commitment to teamwork and collaboration ensures that his impact extends far beyond his individual achievements.
The following is an excerpt from Officer Keen’s nomination for Task Force Officer of the Year:
“We are honored to nominate Task Force Officer Ben Keen for the Northern District of Iowa’s Task Force Officer of the Year. Ben has consistently set himself apart through his unwavering dedication to his work, often spending long hours beyond the call of duty to ensure the success of complex investigations. His outstanding investigative skills are complemented by his willingness to utilize the full spectrum of investigative techniques, including both traditional and nontraditional methods. Ben leverages electronic surveillance, confidential sources, and other innovative approaches to ensure successful apprehensions. Beyond his technical expertise, Ben demonstrates a genuine concern for victims and a steadfast commitment to pursuing justice, ensuring that his work not only holds offenders accountable but also provides a sense of resolution and safety for those affected. His relentless tenacity, adaptability, and compassion make him an exemplary candidate for this recognition.”
