What Can I Request?

Open Records Requests (as defined in Iowa Code Chapter 22) may include records related to:

  • Prisons
  • Parole
  • Probation
  • Work Release

Submit a Request

All requests should be submitted through the State of Iowa’s official Open Records portal.

Submitting your request through this system ensures:

  • Confirmation that your request was received
  • Proper tracking and processing
  • Accurate communication and billing (if applicable)
  • Timely responses from the department

Fees

In accordance with Iowa Code Chapter 22:

  • Requests requiring more than 30 minutes of staff time may incur a fee
  • Any applicable charges will be communicated before fulfillment
