Aaron Sharr

Aaron Sharr was named the Warden at the Clarinda Correctional Facility in April 2026.

Sharr served as the Deputy Warden at CCF, where he oversaw daily security, treatment, and maintenance operations while supporting institutional leadership and cross-functional teams. He brings more than two decades of experience in corrections, along with a distinguished 20-year career in the Iowa Army National Guard.

Sharr began his career at CCF in 1999 as a Correctional Officer before serving in roles including Correctional Counselor, Treatment Services Director, Associate Warden of Treatment, and Deputy Warden. In these positions, he led efforts in institutional safety, treatment programming, staff supervision, and reentry-focused initiatives.

In addition to his corrections career, Sharr is a retired infantry officer with the Iowa Army National Guard, where he held leadership roles ranging from platoon-level command to Company Commander of a 170-soldier unit.

As Warden, Sharr oversees all operations at the Clarinda Correctional Facility, including security, treatment programming, reentry services, and facility administration. He is committed to strengthening professional relationships, supporting staff well-being, and advancing the DOC mission of enhancing public safety through effective correctional practices.

Sharr holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration with a minor in Psychology from Upper Iowa University.
