NEWTON, Iowa – Melvin Lester Walker was pronounced dead at 9:45 a.m. on Monday, April 28, 2025 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. Walker was 70 years old at the time of his death.
Walker had been serving a two-year term for crimes from Des Moines County. His sentence began on March 3, 2025.
