CLARINDA, Iowa – The Iowa Department of Corrections (DOC) and the Clarinda Correctional Facility (CCF) are suspending all in-person visitation, effective immediately.
This difficult decision has been made following the discovery of possible evidence that contraband-specifically synthetic substances-is being introduced into the facility through the visiting room. The introduction of these substances poses a severe threat to the health, safety, and security of both the population and staff.
Please be advised of the following:
- Duration: This suspension will remain in effect until a comprehensive security review is completed and enhanced screening protocols are implemented.
- Alternative Communication: To ensure you remain connected with your families, access to video visitation Friday through Monday, telephones, and o-mails will remain available according to the standard schedule.
- Safety Measures: Any individual found in possession of or distributing contraband will face immediate disciplinary action and potential criminal prosecution.
The safety of the facility is the primary concern. The DOC and CCF appreciate everyone's cooperation as it works to maintain a secure environment.
