Rob Metzger

Rob Metzger was named the Director of the 7th District in April 2025.

Metzger brings nearly two decades of experience in Corrections and behavioral health to the role, having started his career with the DOC in 2007 as a psychologist at the Iowa Medical and Classification Center. Most recently, he served as the assistant director in the 6th District, where he led operations, fiscal strategy, and organizational development for an agency serving more than 4,000 clients annually.

Metzger has a strong background in program development, fiscal oversight, and staff mentorship. He is a graduate of the IDOC Leadership Institute, ACJI’s leadership academies, and the APPA Leadership Institute. He also serves as an adjunct lecturer at the University of Iowa and is finishing his third term on his local school board.
